David Melone

David Melone has been with USC Marshall School of Business since Fall of 2018. David is a distinguished educational technologist with over two decades of experience in instructional design and eLearning. He currently serves as the Director of Instructional Design at the USC Marshall School of Business, where he leads a team of instructional designers in creating and enhancing online and hybrid graduate programs. David's expertise lies in collaborating with faculty and program staff to develop high-quality courses, providing comprehensive training to ensure effective use of educational technology and pedagogy, and enhancing accessibility for course materials.

Before his current role, David held various positions at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), including Director of eLearning and Academic Computing. There, he managed a robust distance learning program, expanded the learning management system (LMS), and developed extensive technology support services. His leadership was instrumental in piloting and launching accredited online degree programs, significantly improving the institution's online education capabilities.

David's early career included roles as a Webmaster for Liberty Livewire Audio and the Association of Bay Area Governments, where he optimized web presence and e-commerce functionalities.

David holds a Master of Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Santa Clara University. His contributions to educational technology have been recognized with awards such as the Game Changer Team Award for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With interests ranging from fitness and 3D printing to graphic design and wearable technology, David is dedicated to innovating and enhancing the learning experience through the integration of cutting-edge technologies and best practices in instructional design.
